Uncovering a Family Treasure: Vintage Meiresonne Beer Glass
Greetings, fellow collectors and enthusiasts! Today, I’m reaching out to tap into your expertise regarding a charming vintage beer mug that has been a cherished item in my family since the 1970s.
The glass proudly displays the name “Meiresonne” and features a vibrant depiction of a clown—or perhaps a jester—dressed in a striking red-and-white striped outfit. This whimsical character holds a glass in one hand and a bell in the other, set against an intriguing black-and-white castle backdrop. Impressively, both the artwork and the label remain in excellent condition, despite the glass’s age.
This family heirloom holds special significance for us. My mother, who was born in the early 1970s, fondly recalls spotting this glass during her childhood visits to my grandmother’s home in India. The backstory becomes even more interesting, as we believe it may have been brought back by my grandfather’s brother, who served in the Merchant Navy and traveled extensively through Europe. Given that I recently discovered Meiresonne is a brewery based in Belgium, this adds an exciting layer of history to the glass.
I am eager to gather insights from this knowledgeable community regarding a couple of questions:
- What time period might this distinctive design represent?
- Do you have any thoughts on its collectibility or potential value?
Your feedback would be tremendously appreciated as I embark on this journey to learn more about this delightful piece of our family’s past. Thank you!
