Discovering Valmiermuižas: A Craft Beer Lover’s Dream
Are you a craft beer enthusiast in search of your next favorite brew? Allow me to introduce you to Valmiermuižas, a remarkable Latvian beer that deserves a place on your radar. From its rich flavors to its unique brewing process, this beer has captured my heart, and I’m here to share the experience with you.
During my time living in Riga, Latvia, I became quite familiar with Valmiermuižas. For three years, this beer was my go-to choice, and my appreciation for it ran deeper than mere enjoyment; it became a lifestyle. Yet, I find it perplexing that such a fantastic beer is not available for export, not even to nearby Western European countries.
My travels have taken me to various parts of Europe, including Italy and Germany, where I’ve attempted to order Valmiermuižas to no avail. The costs were astronomical—hundreds of dollars for just a case! While one can dream of having “F.U. money” to splurge on craft beer, that luxury is not my current reality.
The purpose of this post is to shine a light on Valmiermuižas and to encourage fellow beer lovers visiting Latvia (and perhaps Estonia) to seek it out. If you are fortunate enough to find this gem during your travels, I highly recommend giving it a try.
As I prepare for my upcoming move back to the United States in a few months, I’m left with lingering doubts about ever having access to Valmiermuižas again. If I couldn’t navigate the challenge of obtaining it in Germany, I can only imagine the hurdles I’ll face when I’m back in the U.S.
In conclusion, if you’re planning a trip to Latvia, make it a point to discover Valmiermuižas. Your taste buds will thank you, and who knows—you might just discover your new favorite craft beer!
