Emirates First Class Wine List #3

Exploring Emirates First Class: A Journey Through Exquisite Wines

Indulging in the luxurious experience of flying Emirates First Class isn’t just about comfort and service; it’s also about savoring an extraordinary selection of wines. Here, we delve into an impressive wine tasting that included several standout bottles from Emirates’ renowned cellar.

Chateau Mouton Rothschild (2003)

This iconic French wine presents an intriguing bouquet with notes of pencil lead and graphite, intertwined with the rich aroma of blackcurrants. On the palate, it delivers a gentle complexity reminiscent of more mature wines. The tannins are subtle yet pleasant, wrapping the experience in a delicate embrace, while hints of oak barrels accentuate its flavor.

The finish is notable for its slight peppery kick and lingering tannins, bridging the gap between medium and full-bodied sensations. Although a bottle of Chateau Mouton Rothschild can command prices close to €1,000, my personal experience on the flight—enjoying nearly an entire bottle—has led me to believe that I wouldn’t purchase it again, as there are other wines I favor that offer a more satisfying experience at a lower price point.

Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Louis Latour (2014)

Next on the tasting tour was the Corton Charlemagne, which captivates with its floral notes and a hint of vanilla, complemented by a slight citrus zest. This wine is the epitome of balance and elegance, offering a delightful texture and viscosity that are truly enjoyable. Its light to medium body is enriched by nuances of honeycomb and distinct characteristics from its vineyard’s stone plots.

While the Corton Charlemagne showcases refined flavors, I found it lacked the depth I usually seek, particularly as a fan of richer, oaked Chardonnays and Montrachet wines.

Dom Perignon (2004)

No tasting is complete without champagne, and the Dom Perignon from 2004 certainly does not disappoint. Light and fruity, it stands out as one of the finest champagnes I have had the pleasure of tasting, bringing a refreshing elegance to the experience.

Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey (2016)

When it comes to Sauternes, the Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey ranks among my top three. It offers a compelling profile dominated by peach notes, providing an aromatic experience that sets it apart from its counterparts. Both the nose and palate reflect the unique qualities of this exquisite dessert wine.
