The Shocking Discontinuation of Amstel Light: Seeking Alternatives
It’s often said that some of life’s most unexpected disappointments come from the most trivial places. Here’s a tale that highlights this sentiment, particularly for those who appreciate a good drink every now and then.
After several years of abstaining from alcohol, I recently decided to reconnect with social settings and enjoy a drink on occasion. During my time in the Marine Corps, I had fond memories of two specific beers, Carlsberg and Amstel Light, which were delightful alternatives to the standard options like PBR, Coors Light, and Budweiser.
With the intention of keeping a few drinks on hand for social gatherings, I revisited a local liquor store only to be told they no longer stocked Amstel Light. Curiosity got the better of me, so I reached out to a larger liquor store in a neighboring city, hoping for better luck. Despite their extensive inventory, I was met with disappointing news once again: Amstel Light has officially been discontinued.
To say I was upset would be an understatement. Although I planned to consume this beer only occasionally, discovering that it was no longer available left me feeling quite disheartened.
So, I turn to my fellow enthusiasts for guidance: for those who used to enjoy Amstel Light, can you recommend any current beers that might replicate its distinctive taste? I’m planning a trip to the store tomorrow and would love to explore alternatives to accompany Carlsberg.
Your suggestions would be immensely appreciated as I embark on this quest for a suitable replacement!
