Sharing a Special Brew: A Unique Moment with Goose Island Eagle Rare Stout
I’m thrilled to report that I finally have the perfect occasion to uncork my 2023 Goose Island Eagle Rare stout!
About a year ago, I shared a story about my wife’s encouragement to purchase this stout, despite not being a usual stout enthusiast myself. The excitement surrounding the collaboration drew me in, and yes, I took some playful heat for that decision. I had promised to wait for a truly special occasion to enjoy this unique brew, and it seems that moment has finally arrived.
This weekend, I will meet my birth mother for the first time. After 53 years apart, she has been on a journey of her own, searching for me for 40 of those years. As fate would have it, she’s a fan of Guinness, making this encounter even more significant. I can hardly think of a more poignant way to bond than sharing a beer with her on this landmark day.
Now, I find myself pondering the best way to enjoy this stout. Should I chill it, serve it at room temperature, or perhaps give it a quick spin in the fridge for about half an hour? Having never tasted this brew before, I’d greatly appreciate any recommendations or insights from those who are more familiar with the nuances of stout beverages.
I’m excited to hear your thoughts, and I look forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with a special drink that signifies much more than just a stout. Cheers!
