Discovering Valmiermuižas: The Latvian Craft Beer You Need to Try
If you consider yourself a beer enthusiast, then you absolutely need to put Valmiermuižas on your radar. This enchanting craft beer hails from Latvia and has become a personal favorite of mine for its exceptional flavor and quality. That said, there’s a puzzling conundrum: despite its delicious offerings, Valmiermuižas is not available for export, not even to neighboring Western European nations.
My journey with Valmiermuižas began during my three-year stint in Riga, where it quickly became more than just a drink; it formed a significant part of my culinary experience. I indulged in this local brew so frequently that describing myself as a casual consumer would be an understatement. After moving on to other regions of Europe, including Italy and Germany, I attempted to procure some Valmiermuižas for my home. Unfortunately, the quotes I received were astronomical—hundreds of dollars for a mere case. One can only hope that one day I’ll find myself in a position to splurge on these delights, but for now, that dream remains out of reach.
The primary aim of this post is to introduce you to this stellar craft beer and encourage fellow beer lovers to seek it out during trips to Latvia or even Estonia. The unique charm of Valmiermuižas is something that every beer aficionado should experience firsthand.
As I prepare for my upcoming move back to the United States in a few months, I can’t help but feel disheartened. If I was unable to solve the mystery of acquiring it in Germany, my hopes of finding it Stateside are quite dim. So, if you’re planning a visit to the Baltics, make sure to add Valmiermuižas to your must-try list. Your taste buds will thank you!
