Unpopular Opinion: I hate the trend of having dogs inside of breweries.

The Great Debate: Dogs in Breweries – A Personal Perspective

In recent years, the trend of allowing dogs into breweries has gained significant popularity, sparking both appreciation and frustration among patrons. As someone who frequents a delightful local brewery that embraces this trend, I need to express my reservations regarding this canine-friendly initiative, particularly during their designated “dog days” on Sundays.

While I commend the brewery for its noble efforts, such as donating a portion of sales to local animal shelters, the reality of sharing space with an assortment of furry companions proved to be a more challenging experience than anticipated. Imagine navigating through a crowd while sidestepping ecstatic pups and puddles of spilled water, all while trying to reach your seat or the restroom. It can become quite the obstacle course.

To add to the chaos, large breeds, like Great Danes, saunter freely around the tables, often curious about our drinks. While it’s endearing to see these four-legged friends enjoying the atmosphere, I can’t help but wonder when this became an accepted norm in breweries.

A Paw-sitive Note

It’s important to mention that, for the most part, the dogs I encountered tended to be well-behaved; no brawls broke out among these social dogs. The primary issue appeared to be the distraction of their owners. Many seemed preoccupied with their conversations, oblivious to the antics of their pets or the fact that their pooches were monopolizing the walking space. Occasionally, a curious tail would swipe a plate off a table, or a long leash would snag on someone’s drink, creating a rather chaotic scene.

In conclusion, while the idea of enjoying a craft beer alongside our furry friends is appealing to many, it might benefit both patrons and pooches if there were clearer guidelines regarding their behavior and space in these establishments. At the very least, a bit of awareness from pet owners could go a long way in ensuring a more enjoyable experience for all visitors—both two-legged and four-legged alike.
