Put Dates on your cans .

Why You Should Always Check for Dates on Canned Beverages

As a beer enthusiast, nothing beats discovering a new brew, especially when it comes to hazy IPAs. However, I recently had a less-than-ideal experience while shopping for some. While browsing the shelves, I was drawn to several cans touted as “new” by in-store signage. Excited by the prospect of trying something fresh and innovative, I eagerly examined the cans. To my dismay, I found that none of them bore a date.

In fact, I checked several cans from four different breweries, and still, there was no date in sight. For a premium price of $20 for a four-pack, I expect more transparency about the product I’m purchasing. The absence of a date raises a significant concern: without knowing when the beer was canned, how can I be sure it’s still fresh and optimal for enjoyment?

Canned beverages, particularly IPAs, are best consumed shortly after production to fully appreciate their intended flavors and aromas. Thus, the absence of a production date can leave potential buyers in the dark. As a consumer, I believe it’s crucial to advocate for better labeling practices that prioritize freshness and transparency.

Next time you’re browsing for your favorite brews, remember to look for that production date. Your taste buds—and wallet—will thank you!
