The End of an Era: Magic Hat Brewing Bids Farewell
In a bittersweet turn of events, Magic Hat Brewing Company has officially ceased operations. While many enthusiasts may have recognized the decline of the once-beloved brand, recent news confirms that the company’s new owner, Fifco, has brought the final curtain down on production of its iconic #9 beer. This move follows the discontinuation of all other styles over the years and the halting of Magic Hat draft beer production last year.
Magic Hat was a pioneer in the craft beer movement, known for its creativity and unique flavor profiles that captured the hearts of many beer aficionados. However, since the brand’s relocation from its original home in Vermont to Rochester, NY, it has struggled to maintain the same vibrant presence in the craft beer community.
For many of us, Magic Hat #9 was one of our first introductions to the world of craft beer, and it holds a special place in our hearts. Personally, it was around 25 years ago that I first tasted this intriguing brew, which sparked my journey into the broader realm of craft beers and ultimately led to a career in the industry. Although I haven’t enjoyed a #9 in recent years, I am grateful for the memories it created and the inspiration it provided.
As we say goodbye to Magic Hat, it’s essential to appreciate the impact it has had on the craft beer scene and the many drinkers it has inspired over the years. Cheers to the memories, and here’s hoping for new adventures in the craft beer world!
