Celebrating Two Years of Craft Excellence: An Invitation to Ask Me Anything!
Hello, craft beer enthusiasts!
My name is Jacob McKean, and I am the proud founder and owner of Modern Times Beer, a thriving craft brewery based in sunny San Diego. As we approach our second anniversary, I wanted to take a moment to engage with all of you. This is an invitation for you to ask me anything about our journey, the craft beer industry, and the experiences of running a brewery!
Having hosted a successful AMA last year, I found it to be an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am eager to delve into your questions once again. Whether you’re curious about our brewing process, our year-round offerings, or the unique challenges we face in this vibrant market, I’m here to share insights.
A Quick Overview of Modern Times Beer
At Modern Times, we produce four year-round beers, packaged in both kegs and 16oz cans. We take immense pride in our craft, having been recognized as one of the Top 10 New Brewers in the World by RateBeer. This recognition truly motivates us to push the boundaries of flavor and quality.
With a 30-barrel brewing system, we are currently operating at full throttle, aiming for an impressive annual output of 24,000 barrels. We also love experimenting with monthly special releases in 22oz bottles, alongside exciting barrel-aged varieties.
Moreover, we are among the few breweries globally that roast our own coffee, which adds a unique touch to our creations. I’m thrilled to share that our flagship Black House Blend recently earned a remarkable 94 Points from a leading coffee critic!
For the homebrew enthusiasts out there, many of our recipes are made available online as part of our “open source brewing” initiative. It’s our way of fostering community and encouraging fellow brewers to explore and innovate.
