A Culinary Journey Through Burgundy: My Week of Wine and Delight
After an exhilarating week immersed in the enchanting region of Burgundy, I’m excited to share my experiences. Over the past seven days, I savored the local cuisine and wines, creating memories that were both educational and indulgent. My adventure was marked by the exploration of numerous delightful vintages, which I’ll detail below along with my personal tasting notes and reflections. While I don’t often assign scores, I feel it’s essential this time, as it will help illuminate the sheer pleasure each wine brought to my palate, based solely on my experiences during the trip.
Tasting Notes from My Burgundy Adventure
2010 Domaine Fourrier, Gevrey Chambertin, Aux Echezeaux
This exceptional wine graced my glass as a fitting finale to my journey. Domaine Fourrier is my benchmark for quality, and this bottle exemplified why. Freshly opened, it was an immediate delight. The nose revealed classic Gevrey spices, and on the palate, I was met with vibrant red fruit and layered savory spices. Its perfectly balanced acidity and refined tannins made it a standout. 2020 Hubert Lamy, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru, Derrière chez Edouard
With a youthful exuberance, this wine showcased a citrus concentration that was invigorating. The hint of salinity complemented a refreshing pairing of charcuterie and cheese. Rating: 91

My first Raveneau experience left me in awe. Each sniff offered a new facet, from flint to honey. The palate was a symphony of citrus and saline elements, culminating in a long, memorable finish. It’s no surprise this was my favorite of the trip. Rating: 97
